Como's Reiss HQ scheme scoops more awards

  • Reiss's London headquarters: the fit out and unique exterior delivered by Como.

Como is celebrating more awards success for the mixed use design and build development it delivered for clothing retailer Reiss.

The scheme designed by Squire & Partners and completed in July 2008, won an award at the prestigious 2009 Annual RIBA Awards on 21 May. Running since 1966, RIBA Awards are awarded for buildings that have high architectural standards and make a substantial contribution to the local environment.

On the 7 May the scheme also won a BCO (British Council for Offices) award in their first dedicated London and the South East Awards in the ‘Projects up to 2000 sq mt' category. The BCO awards recognise top quality design and functionality and a benchmark for excellence in workplaces.

These awards are added to previous wins, including the Civic Trust Award where judges described the building as ‘innovative, dramatic and beautifully detailed' and the bespoke acrylic façade as having ‘the shimmering quality of silk'. The scheme was also shortlisted in the World Architecture Festival Awards.

Dave Osborne, project manager commented, ‘We are delighted to have been involved in this award winning scheme. Credit must go to the team who worked long hours to ensure a successful handover.'
